Organizers of The Motorcycle Shows were very happy with the successful start to the national Series of shows in Toronto December 7-9.
Damp weather over the weekend did not stop enthusiasts, with a surprising number riding their bikes. Attendance was 28,133, a very slight decrease from 2011 and a very good sign in these still tougher economic times.
There were very positive comments about the quality of the attendees, the increase of female riders at the show and the increase of exhibitor sales.
There was a new feature at the show this year, “The Northeastern Trials”. Jordan Szoke and Dan Johnson, two of the sport’s most accomplished riders, along with Johnson’s six-year-old son, Aiden thrilled the crowds.
The always popular Yamaha Riding Academy was back offering a unique opportunity for kids 6 to 12 years old a chance to learn how to ride at the show.
The Race Café was combined with the food court this year and was full throughout the show. Hosts Frank Wood and Rob Pagetto provided commentary and held interviews over the weekend.
Some 580 ladies took advantage of “SHE Rides Night” half price tickets this year. There were onsite ballots for great prizes on the main stage at 9:00pm. Prizes included: $1,500 Shopping Spree from GP Bikes, Ladies Jacket from Suzuki Canada, $300 and $500 Gift Certificates from Gears Canada, Hotel Night at Intercontinental Toronto and a Surf & Turf Instant Shelter.
